The weather presents itself on the weekend from its uncomfortable and especially wet side. Also, with the temperatures, it goes downhill.
The foothills of the North Sea low “Zoltan” in interaction with forming Italian joint influences the weather pattern in Austria. This will initiate a cooler and more unstable weather phase, which will last at least until the weekend. This will not change much at the beginning of the week; the low-pressure influence and, thus, the unsettled weather character will remain with us.
On Friday, the calm and often wet weather will continue, shifting the focus of rain to the east and north. In the more extensive valleys in the west, from the Rhine to the Inn Valley to the Lienz Basin, the sun will shine from time to time between only a few showers, but in large parts of the country, it will remain cloudy. In the Danube region, moderate easterly winds will blow, and temperatures will not rise above 10 to 18 degrees.
Saturday starts in the east and south with rain in the Danube region and some valleys with high foggy residual clouds. On the mountains north of the main ridge of the Alps, the sun will shine frequently; during the day, a mix of spring clouds and some sun will set in. Shows will fall along the northern Alps from noon, with occasional thunder and lightning. It will gradually dry out in the eastern lowlands, but the clouds will clear only hesitantly—highs between 12 and 20 degrees.
On Sunday, it will be mostly cloudy from the beginning and wet in the south. This rain will quickly spread northward in the morning, and isolated showers will also fall in the west. During the day, the rain will intensify in sections in the south and east. In addition, moderate to brisk easterly winds will blow in the Danube region and the eastern lowlands, and temperatures will not rise above 9 to 17 degrees.
Monday will be changeable in the north and west with many clouds and several showers, but there will be sunny spells in between. The east and south will be favorable, but here, too, showers and thunderstorms will develop after a friendly first half of the day over the mountains. The wind will shift from the west in the Danube region and blow moderately to briskly. Temperatures: 13 to 21 degrees, with the highest values in the southeast.
